How do I group my delivery orders?

Prerequisites

MyOrderBox with/without KDS

with/without Driver tracking (Driver tracking app)

User Story

You get swamped with orders from multiple sources on a Friday / Saturday night, so if you can manage it then, the other times should be a breeze.  To achieve this you may want to group delivery orders that are close together so a single driver can take them in one go while controlling how many orders are visible in the Kitchen at any one time.

Settings

POS - Track > Auto > On (Toggle)

KDS - Auto > On (Toggle)

KDS - Settings > Appearance > Column Count (5) > Row Count (2) - To allow 10 orders shown in the Kitchen at any one time.

KDS - Settings - On Order Touch > Prepare

Walk through

(Note: Driver tracking enabled shown by moped on trackscreen top right hand corner under power button)

Track > Delivery orders only, will initially appear, with the driver column block in grey. This indicates that a delivery group hasn't been assigned to these orders yet.

Auto assign* (coming soon)

If the Driver Tracking service is automatically grouping orders, then once the delivery groups are allocated the blocks will appear with a unique colour according to their delivery group.

Manually assign

Select order(s) the delivery group is to be created for by pressing the respective grey driver button

Pressing the button will display the 'Delivery Group' popup. (Currently there are no delivery groups).

Press 'New', this will then create a delivery group and the colour will signify this. The number in the delivery group indicates how many orders have been assigned to it.

Now pressing 'Done' will apply this delivery group to the order.

Should you wish the driver to take an additional order in the same dispatch, repeat this process, selecting the same delivery group.

If using KDS once the orders have been prepared the status for the orders on the POS will change to 'Ready to dispatch' and the Assign driver button will be visible.

If not using KDS then once the orders have been prepared POS operator needs to change the order statuses from 'In Kitchen' to 'Ready to Dispatch'.

Now the driver can be assigned.

Unassigning a delivery group to an order with/without a driver

If an order or driver needs to be removed from a delivery group, then selecting the order and pressing the delivery group button will bring up the delivery group pop up. Now pressing Unassign will remove the delivery group and the driver if it has been assigned, reducing the number of orders in the group by 1.

Changing a delivery group after it's been set

Press the delivery group button of the order that needs to be changed. This will now allow the user the option to create another delivery group (New) or add the order to another existing group.

Sorting KDS

While the standard sorting is by Due Time, the Auto function changes this default behaviour as follows:

- If Auto On then, in order of priority:
- Being Prepared > Held in Top positions until prepared AND other orders in same delivery group are prepared
- If order with delivery group is Prepared the other orders in same delivery group should retain their top position.
- Sort by Due Time
- Where a Delivery order has a position, check for any orders in same Delivery Group add them directly below and sort them by Delivery position then by Due Time.
 - Proceed with the other orders by Due Time

This ensures that all orders are prepared only when they need to be, as long as the chef ensures the orders are prepared by their due time showing. Note this due time will be different to the Track screen, as this removes the delivery time and only shows the preparation time.

Sorting POS

While the standard sorting is by Due Time, the Auto function changes this default behaviour as follows:

If Auto On then, in order of priority:
- Sort all orders by Due Time.
- In the case of a Delivery order, it will check for any orders in same Delivery Group, add them directly below, and it will then sort them within the group by delivery position then by Due Time.
 - Proceed with the other orders by sorting them Due Time.

(Note: Delivery groups are dynamic and can change as new orders are added. Therefore vigilance is required).

Once a driver has been assigned to a delivery group. the track screen will then populate the Driver block with their initials.

Note - Assigning a driver to a delivery group which has multiple orders will automatically assign the driver to all the orders in the group.
